Do you ever feel weary? Do you ever wonder if you’ve really changed the world at all?
I remember feeling like I wasn’t really making an impact on the world. I’d look at people who are in other countries or in the high crime cities, spreading the word of God and thinking, “Wow. I wish I was making that big of a difference.”
While others were out risking their very lives to bring someone to Christ, I was still trying to come up with ways to use my gifts to honor God. It didn’t seem like everything that I was doing was really all that important.
What I didn’t pay attention to was the fact that God was working behind the scenes. Just because I didn’t see Him making a difference through me didn’t mean He wasn’t doing anything.
That opened up a whole new door for me. I shouldn’t become tired of doing good or helping people, because God can use everything I do to change someone’s life.
I still get weary sometimes. I still get discouraged, but I’m reminded that it will be worth it.
So, what can you do when you become weary?
1) Run Into the Arms of God
Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
We all have burdens. Whether we’re carrying the weight of our sin or just plain worn out, Jesus wants us to give our burdens to Him and let him carry them.
These days it seems like everything’s about making it to the top and getting things done quick, but when I follow that, I just get stressed and frustrated.
When I read that verse above, I am so thankful that I can rest in Jesus and give all of my worries and cares to Him.
2) Fight This Battle With Your Goal in Mind
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
God promises that He will someday reward those who follow Him. Of course, we shouldn’t only do good to get a reward. We should be loving others whether we receive a prize or not, but God sees everything small thing we do; every think that we think goes unnoticed.
We can rest assured that it will be worth it in the end when God says, “Well done my good and faithful servant.”
When we choose to keep on following God and let Him work through us, then He will bless what we do and use it for good.
These are the two steps that have made the biggest difference when I start to get weary.
I have found that being in constant prayer with God is a great way to come to Him with everything. Even if its only a short prayer, I am always taking my cares and concerns to God.
It might feel like you’re not making much of a difference, but keep in mind, God is still working even when we can’t see it. Don’t give up! It will be so worth it!
