Faith Identity Relationships Struggles Womanhood

Trusting God and Thriving as a Single Girl

“Trusting God is one of the simplest but most difficult concepts to live out. ” (Love Defined page 120)

Let’s face it. We’re all growing up. Some are starting college. Others are getting new jobs. Many of our childhood friends are even entering romantic relationships.

Where does that leave us single girls? How can we thrive and trust God in our years of single-hood?

Our reading this past week was chapters 8 and 9 of Love Defined. Here, we picked up some simple strategies for thriving in our single years.

1. Live all out for Christ.

2. Intentionally grow in godliness.

3. Look for opportunities to serve.

4. Embrace the unique aspects of this season.

5. Expand your community beyond only singles.

Even if we haven’t admitted it, many of us have believed the lie that we will be happy and complete if only we had a boyfriend.

This lie comes front and center, especially when our friends are entering relationships, leaving us to navigate love on our own.

However, this season of life has a unique spin to it! During this time, we are able to grow in our relationships with Christ and with others. As we choose to trust God in this time of life, we are building character.

Go out in your community and volunteer! Sing in the street or at a nursing home. Practice kindness and patience with your siblings at home. Get to know the younger kids in your life. Spend time with the elderly and listen to their stories.

Your single years don’t have to be years of despair. Instead, you can use this time to thrive!

Key Scripture Verses
