Rejection takes on many different forms. It could be from friends or family. It could be from people we aren’t even close to. But it still hurts. Nobody wants to be the girl that no one likes; the girl who feels out of place everywhere she goes.
Have you ever been that girl? It’s hard, I know.
Often times when a hint of rejection enters our lives, such as feeling left out or disliked, Satan tries to get us to believe lies about ourselves.
“There must be something wrong with me.”
“If they don’t want me, then I don’t want them.”
“I don’t need anyone but myself.”
“No one wants me.”
We harden our hearts and hide ourselves from people because, if we let them in, they might hurt us. We constantly push others away because we don’t want to risk being rejected.
I personally know girls who have struggled immensely with rejection. So much so that they found it nearly impossible to trust others and sometimes even God.
I also know girls who have chosen to give that pain to the Lord. It was when they opened themselves to His truth that healing began.
Below are 15 crucial Scripture verses for the girl facing rejection.
Many of these were given to me from teen girls who have personally struggled with this. These verses helped them open themselves up to God and His truth.
1. Luke 6: 22-23
“Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you and revile you and spurn your name as evil, on account of the Son of Man! Rejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven;”
2. Matthew 5: 3-12
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.”
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
3. 1 Peter 2:4
“As you come to Him, a living stone rejected by men, but in the sight of God chosen and precious,”
4. Psalm 107:9
“For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.”
5. Ephesians 3:16-19
“That according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”
6. Psalm 27:10
“For my father and my mother have forsaken me, but the Lord will take me in.”
7. 1 Peter 5:7
“Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”
8. Romans 8:31
“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”
9. Psalm 66:16-20
“Come and hear, all you who fear God, and I will tell what he has done for my soul. I cried to him with my mouth, and high praise was on my tongue. If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened. But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, because he has not rejected my prayer or removed his steadfast love from me!”
10. Isaiah 49:16
“Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.”
11. Matthew 7:14
“For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.”
12. Romans 8:38-39
“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
13. Philippians 3:13-14
“Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
14. 2 Corinthians 12:9
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
15. Romans 15:13
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
Take these verses to heart!
There will be times when you are left out and rejected, but remember that Jesus was also rejected and ridiculed. He knows what it’s like. The good news is that He loves you and accepts you!
Following Jesus isn’t always popular, but it’s the only way to real truth, joy, and freedom. Memorize some of these verses and prepare yourself to replace Satan’s lies with God’s truth.
