From One Girl to Another: You’re Not Alone

Young women who are running on empty; who feel as though they can’t take another step, this goes out to you.

You are loved. You are valued. And, you know what? You’re not alone.

I know that sometimes it feels like you are. You face so many pressures every single day. I know what it’s like to want to meet people’s expectations.

Because I’m quieter than others, people always point it out. They wonder why I don’t talk more, as if it’s wrong for me not to be exactly like everyone else.

What they don’t see is that, because of my quieter personality, I’m more observant. I can connect with people one-on-one, and I can think and talk about deeper things.

Some of you can probably relate really well to me.

But maybe you’re not that way at all. Maybe you are super outgoing and people get annoyed or upset at you for talking too much.

What they don’t see is that you can do great when it comes to talking to new people or in groups. You can take on the role of leadership and make an impact.

There are so many pressures from looking a certain way to being more athletic to striving to be more successful.

While everyone is telling you to do better, you hear voices telling you that you aren’t enough. You don’t measure up because you’re too quiet or outgoing or poor or disabled.

That’s not true.

You might have things you need to work on, but labels don’t define you. What matters is what God thinks about you. He’s where your true identity lies.

Close your eyes and imagine the most amazing landscape you can think of. Think about that for a little while and take it in. Now, turn your focus to the Author of all that. The One who created the entire universe loves you.

He created you for a purpose. God doesn’t make mistakes. You are not an accident.

It says in Psalm 139 that God knew you before you were even born. There isn’t a place that you can go where He isn’t. No matter what you go through; no matter what others say, you are never ever alone.

There will people who will criticize you. There will be people who will try to drag you down, but you don’t have to go through it alone. God is here and He will send people into your life who care about and love you.
